... to my homepage. The pictures chosen represent the range of my creative work by sketches, renderings, models and carried out products.

On a walk of 500 Meters across the fields I made up my mind to open up a cabinet maker's workshop and I figured out a conception for it which guided me for 20 years from 1986 to 2006 (MUSEUM) and is still effective up do this day. I started off right away as an autodidact and built my first chair 1986-no 1.

1986 - 2006

Conception:

• First of all it should satisfy me and my customers and be an interesting work.
• Unique pieces should be developed after intensive discussions with the client and thorough studies of the local conditions, at best a "portrait": 1997-dining table.
• Aesthetics
  - taking advantage of the characteristics of the chosen materials: 1998-O table
  - natural unaltered materials: 1999-desk
  - focussing the wanted impression: 1997-doctors reception
• Ecology
  - use of local wood, partially cut and stored by myself: 1991-bookcase
  - even use of difficult parts of the trees: branches, roots, colour changes, etc.: 2005-desk - unproblematic surfaces
  - taking advantage of the specific characteristics of the various kinds of wood: hardness, denseness, elasticity etc.
• Technique
  - mainly using solid wood - focussing on handicraft expressing the human creative power: 1992-cabinet Chair no 6 (Münchner Stadtmuseum) marks a turning point in my work. It incorporates all my ideas being something like a self-portrait and the bridge from the unique piece to series production.

2003 - today

Since 2003 I have been working as a freelance designer in favour of which I gave up my own production firm in 2006.

The personal contact with the client has been replaced by aiming at a fictitious target group and the individual aesthetics had to give way to a generally valid one.

The most independent of my works can be found in some sketches - alexander - especially under 2004-doctor's reception and BON BON. There art meets design.

In the meantime those 500 Meters became a long walk and I hope the good weather conditions will continue.
